After School Social Skills Group

weekly therapy hours: 10-15+

For kids diagnosed with ASD and between the ages of 6-to-12, we offer an after-school program designed to work on school-based social skills. This group is ideal for kids who:
  • Have graduated from our Readiness and/or Underpinnings programs
  • Have previously received services like ABA therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy but could benefit from added learning
  • Are currently enrolled in a traditional school setting and need help adapting to the school’s social environment
  • Have strong foundational skills at home but, need to practice skills like communication or turn-taking in a free-flowing environment (i.e. recess or lunchtime)

Group Hours

Our after-school group runs Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Therapy is conducted in a group setting with 1:1 break-out sessions as needed. Because it is a group-based program each child will be assessed prior to enrollment to make sure a group setting is an appropriate learning environment.

Group Safety

For kids in this age group who exhibit aggressive or self-harming behaviors (i.e. throwing, hitting, biting), we may recommend 1:1 therapy to help develop coping and self-soothing skills prior to enrolling in our social skills group. This is for the safety of our other kids, and to help your child build a strong foundation before advancing to a setting that could be more stressful due to added stimuli. We strongly believe in letting kids learn at their own pace, therefore we will not place a child in an environment that they are not foundationally ready to navigate.
