Reno Children’s Center is launching its first early-intervention therapy program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Center, located at 1698 Meadow Wood Lane in Reno, specializes in working with kids ages 2-6 to develop skills for success in traditional Pre-K and Kindergarten environments. Kids enrolled at the Reno Center work with a personalized care team, including a Master’s Level BCBA who creates an individualized therapy plan for each family.
Reno, NV, October 18, 2022 – A new option for pediatric Autism therapy is available to families this month. Reno Children’s Center (RCC), located on Meadow Wood Lane, specializes in family-focused, early-intervention ABA therapy for children ages 2-6 on the Autism Spectrum. The Center officially opens its doors on November 15th and will begin providing services right away.
ABA therapy, also known as Applied Behavior Analysis, is often referred to as the “gold standard” of care for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is endorsed by the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Psychological Association (APA). At the core of ABA therapy, is the use of positive reinforcement to encourage behaviors like sharing, turn-taking, and safe play while addressing harmful behaviors like hitting, biting, or self-injury.
Traditionally, ABA therapy has been provided in a home-based setting but, more and more centers dedicated to Autism services are popping up across the US. And, while RCC isn’t the only center-based program in Reno, staff at the center hope to bring a unique approach to care by specializing in early-intervention therapy and emphasizing family involvement in the therapy process .
Regarding the vision behind RCC, Brian Steinberg, VP of Operations says “Our mission is to help families, it’s what each of our team members lives and breathes. A lot of our staff, from direct care to our leadership team, have very personal experiences with Autism and ABA. They are passionate about helping families navigate this process because they’ve been there, they’ve walked in these shoes.”
Reno Children’s Center is now enrolling kids ages 2-6 with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD) and will welcome families into the Center this month. A free grand opening event is planned for Tuesday, November 15th from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
Families, healthcare providers, and community members are all welcome.
